Viva el Cinco de Mayo! Happy Cinco de Mayo! This Mexican holiday is a wonderful excuse for a fiesta, no matter where you live! In fact, according to a 2007 UCLA study (cited by Wikipedia, I didn't actually read the study!) Cinco de Mayo is
more celebrated in the United States, California in particular, than in most of Mexico.
When I was growing up in southern California, brightly colored festivals filled the streets the weekend of Cinco de Mayo, thick with the aroma of freshly grilled foods and the accompanying merrymaking and revelry lasted long into the evening.
